Trusted by parents whose children attend…
Hey, I’m Marcus, founder of the Maths Mastery Academy and an Oxford University Graduate and former classroom teacher.
At the Maths Mastery Academy, our mission is simple: to keep your child’s love for maths alive. We aim to help students have more success, enjoyment, and opportunity in the maths world, ultimately putting them on a path to a STEM degree at a prestigious university.
Since February 2023, we’ve worked with over 100 students, helping students with minimal experience in problem-solving, go on to achieve gold awards and qualify for follow-on rounds including the Maths Kangaroo and Olympiad.
Our speciality lies in equipping students with advanced problem-solving strategies (along with crucial technical skills and tips and tricks) to access and solve complex questions, different from anything your child has seen before. Our goal is to help your child develop mathematical thinking, and thrive in the mathematics world. Because if your child is showing potential in mathematics, what better skill to nurture while they are young? Right now, the world NEEDS mathematicians like your child. We, parents and teachers, are responsible for building the future generations, and equipping them the skills they need to succeed in a rapidly changing world. So if you are a parent, looking to equip your child with skills and opportunities now and in the future, schedule a free call with us today. Let’s see if we can keep your child’s love for maths alive.
Who we help The Maths Mastery Academy could be an excellent choice for your child is in Year 7-9 (age 10-14) and enjoys doing maths. Typically, we work with students who:
- Love school maths and are keen to learn more, faster
- Find school maths easy or boring (are coasting, and losing their interest)
- Used to enjoy maths (and be successful), but have taken a recent dip, and want to get back on track.
These students don’t need a maths ‘tutor’, but need a maths ‘coach’ to give more challenge and stimulation to level-up their skills

A Proven System To Quickly Raise Your Child’s Maths Level
Technical Fluency
Our platform is built using Notion, allowing you to quickly access the information you need with ease.
Problem-Solving Skill
Respond quickly to changes in your business and make informed decisions based on the latest data.
Mathematical Communication
Three problems that cost bright mathematicians:
- Shortcuts
- Skipping steps
- Rushing
There are 5 components that lead to rapid learning
- Teach
- Test
- Feedback
- Support
- Reward
If your child is missing any one of these components (or are not challenged by what they are being taught), they are not progressing as fast as they could be.
How we Teach
- Promoting meaningful conversations: We value students sharing their ideas and trying things. Engaging students in meaningful classroom discussions encourages deeper thinking, helps clarify concepts, and fosters better understanding through dialogue.
- Tackling challenging questions: A genuinely challenging question is one that either stretches a students current knowledge and understanding, or forces them to apply their skills in a new context. We use maths challenge and Olympiad questions to develop our students problem-solving skill
- Problem-solving Prompts: We prompt our students with problem-solving strategies. We don’t tell them what to do; we guide them through our prompts, that help guide students to solving challenging questions
- ‘Success’ is the rewarding feeling of having solved a difficult question. If students find a question rewarding and enjoyable to solve, since this will keep their motivation high and that will have a knock-on effect on their understanding and results
- Clear and thoughtful explanations: We model this through our own explanations, and expect our students to develop this skill too - we tell our students the answer is irrelevant, only the persuasiveness and concision of that mathematical argument matters
- Precise mathematical definitions: We teach students precise mathematical definitions for keywords; ones that give them a solid foundation and won’t ‘change’ as the student studies more advanced mathematics

Who this is NOT for If your child has significant gaps in their knowledge or isn’t open to enjoying mathematics, do NOT apply. We solve (almost exclusively) interesting, thought-provoking questions, that are different from what children see in school, and if your child is quickly demotivated by this, the Maths Mastery Academy is probably not the best option for them.
